OPEN NATURAL HAZARD MODELING

Release Version 1.8.1

Today we released Version 1.8.1

QGis users please note: do not forget to run Admin -> Update AvaFrame from within the toolbox to receive the updated core as well.

This release fixes a bug/problem with com2AB in which the chosen interpolation method led to points being offset from the original profile. (Thanks @CT for reporting this)

This month in AvaFrame - March 2024 edition

Welcome to the March update:

This was a quiet month coding-wise, but not so quiet in project planning terms. We are preparing for the EGU 24 ISeeSnow presentation and meeting . We are also planning how to proceed with the big topics of AvaFrame Phase2 (e.g. powder snow avalanches).

This month in AvaFrame - February 2024 edition

Welcome to the February update:

This month we held the 1st Austrian workshop (in German), see here for the recording .

We also released Version 1.8 with new computational modules for rock avalanches and FlowPy. Please head over to the link above to see all the details of this release.

The rock avalanche module is highly experimental but will be extended in future developments. Please check our documentation to see the requirements and other information.

Release Version 1.8

Today we released Version 1.8

Please note: the QGis AvaFrame Connector also received an update. Please do not forget to run Admin -> Update AvaFrame from within the toolbox to receive the updated core as well.

The new computational module release.

We’ve added two new (experimental) computational modules, com4FlowPy and com6RockAvalanche. Com4FlowPy integrates the development already done in the FlowPy project, and aims to be the target for flowpy development from now on. com6RockAvalanche is a highly experimental extension of com1DFA, aiming to find a parameterset/adjustments needed to simulate rock avalanches. It also allows the AvaFrame QGis Connector to set the release-thickness, which is done via a release-thickness raster file. This also necessitated a change in remeshing: now, the release thickness files are meshed analogous to the topography file (if necessary).

1st Austrian Public Workshop

Here is an announcement in German for the: 1st Austrian user workshop.

Wir laden alle Interessierten ein am

teilzunehmen.

This month in AvaFrame - January 2024 edition

Welcome to the first update for 2024 :

This month we held the next public workshop, see here for the recording . Thanks to all the participants for showing interest in our work.

Furthermore, we addressed a few bug regarding labels in plots and added contour line plots. We also added scripts to allow for a probability analysis based on existing sims. This is in relation to ISeeSnow and allows for analysis of results not originating from com1DFA.

Recording 2nd Public Workshop 18. January 2024

As promised, here is the link to the recording of our

2nd public AvaFrame workshop which took place on the 18th of January 2024 at 9:00.

This month in AvaFrame - December 2023 edition

Welcome to the last update for 2023 :

The (side project) ISeeSnow is in full swing, we are getting the first results from different groups in. With this comes (as always) as few tiny niggles, that we addressed this month. These are mostly related to aimec and plotting functions.

Furthermore we are gearing up for our next release and are in the the testing phase for including com6RockAvalanche also into our QGis connector. Stay tuned for the next release.
